Things are going well here since I dropped the demands of a daily school time. We are still learning lots, but in a much more relaxed way.
We are sort of following a unit study theme this summer. We're choosing the units to go along with Carisa's Calendar Connections, and this month, we are studying rainforests. We started a bit early, at the end of May but will continue through June. We're reading tons of books, watching movies, doing a few crafts, and playing some games online and offline. We'll also take a walk in one of Hawaii's own rainforests to pull it all together.
One of the online resources I found was Rainforest Maths, by Mathletics. You need a password, but I found it here. Crumpet is really enjoying this.
We are also playing Math Amoeba. I found this when researching Math Gym, which was reviewed by Ticia. Amoeba Math is a silly game with a little man that you move around while shooting erasers at amoebas. When you hit one, a math problem pops up and you have a limited amount of time to answer the problem. The pressure gets to Crumpet, making it hard to answer simple questions, but he loves this game. (You can get a 14 day free trial, which is what we did. I don't know that we'll buy it..)
We played both games a couple of days ago, and also spent a while working with the money in his piggy bank to reinforce coin value and adding by 5's and 10's. We worked on dividing groups of coins in half too.
And when I tried to put him to bed at the end, he said, "No, MORE MATH MOM!"
That is a beautiful thing to hear from someone who usually fights about doing school!

I have to check some of those resources. We tried some math games at http://www.arcademicskillbuilders.com, but it's the same with Anna - she is frustrated and anxious in timed games. I have to give some thought to what I want to do for math this summer.
